MetaShield, LLC, a pioneer in advanced materials technology is pleased to announce Christopher L. Wight as Vice President of Intellectual Property. Wight is a Registered Patent Attorney with over 30 years of intellectual property law experience. He has previously specialized in biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, genetic diagnostic and chemical patents, and commercial transactions involving intellectual property. The appointment of Vice President of Intellectual Property follows recent hires to MetaShield’s Research and Development and Manufacturing teams. His primary role within the company will focus on IP development and protection of MetaShield’s breakthrough technologies.

As former Director of Intellectual Property of Immunex Corporation (acquired by Amgen in 2002), Wight was responsible for Immunex’s patent portfolios covering their LEUKINE and ENBREL products. ENBREL is now one of the world’s highest grossing biologic drugs, with current world-wide annual revenues of approximately $8 billion. ENBREL (and the strength of its patent portfolio) was the principal economic driving force behind Amgen’s $16 billion acquisition of Immunex. Wight also previously served as Vice President, General Counsel, of Myriad Genetics, where he was responsible for the development and enforcement of intellectual property relating to Myriad’s genetic testing business, including Myriad’s patents covering its BRACANALYSIS breast cancer predisposition test, which positioned Myriad to become one the preeminent genetic testing companies in the world. Wight has also spent a significant part of his career affiliated with highly prominent law firms representing both start-up and multinational chemical and drug companies.
Wight received an undergraduate degree in chemistry at Brigham Young University and a J.D. degree from J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University.
